Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Kasmer Signal is an emergency communication service for schools and organizations, operated by Kasmer One LLC (“Kasmer One,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — for both the Kasmer Signal website (kasmersignal.com) and the Kasmer Signal mobile app.

We built Kasmer Signal to help schools keep people safe. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who controls the data

Kasmer Signal is provided to organizations (such as school districts) that provision it to their staff. When your organization uses Kasmer Signal, your organization controls the staff, student, and emergency data in its account, and Kasmer One acts as its service provider, processing that data only to provide the service and under the organization’s instructions. If you are a staff member, student, or parent, direct questions about your data to your school or district first.

Information we collect

  • Account & provisioning information — names, email addresses, roles (admin / staff / student), and the organization and campus a user belongs to.
  • Emergency communications — alerts, safety check-ins and responses (“I’m safe,” “I need help,” “I can assist”), and admin updates created during an incident, with timestamps.
  • Alert-origin location — when a user sends an alert, the app may attach the location it was sent from so responders know where an emergency was reported. We do not continuously track user location and we do not build location histories.
  • Device & diagnostic data — basic device and app information used to deliver alerts reliably and to diagnose problems.
  • SMS recipients — for people reached by text rather than the app (such as parents or community members), phone numbers provided by the organization, used solely to deliver emergency alerts.
  • Website information — if you submit the contact/demo form, the name, role, school/district, email, and message you provide. Our hosting providers also process standard technical logs (such as IP address) to operate and secure the site.

How we use information

  • Deliver emergency alerts and relay them between devices, including over Bluetooth when networks are down.
  • Show accountability (who is safe, who needs help) to authorized administrators.
  • Produce incident records and after-action reports for the organization.
  • Provide, secure, support, and improve the service.
  • Respond to demo requests and inquiries you send us.

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or track users across other apps or websites.

Bluetooth and location

Kasmer Signal uses Bluetooth, including in the background, for one purpose: to relay emergency alerts between staff devices when the internet, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks are unavailable. It communicates only with other Kasmer Signal devices. Location, where used, is only to tag where an alert was sent from. We do not use Bluetooth or location for tracking, analytics, or advertising.

How we share information

  • With your organization — administrators in your school or district can see the account, emergency communications, and accountability data for their organization.
  • With service providers — companies that host our infrastructure, send our email, and deliver SMS, acting on our behalf under contract (for example cloud hosting/database, transactional email, and SMS delivery providers).
  • For legal reasons — when required by law or to protect safety.

We do not sell personal information.

Student data (schools)

Where Kasmer Signal processes student information on behalf of a school, we act as a school official / service provider under applicable education-privacy laws (such as FERPA) and comparable state student-data-privacy laws. We use student data only to provide the emergency-communication service to the school, do not use it for advertising and do not sell it, and delete or return it on the organization’s instruction or at the end of the engagement.

Data retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service to your organization and to meet legal and after-action requirements. Organizations and users may request access to or deletion of their data by contacting us or their organization’s administrator. SMS recipients can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS for cloud sync). Mesh messages are cryptographically signed and scoped to a single campus to prevent spoofing and cross-campus leakage, and access is limited to authorized users within an organization. No system is perfectly secure, but we use appropriate safeguards to protect your information.

Your choices

Depending on where you live and your relationship to an organization, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Staff, students, and parents should start with their school or district; you can also contact us and we will work with your organization to honor valid requests.

Children’s privacy

Kasmer Signal is sold to and configured by organizations, not marketed to children. Any student data is provided and controlled by the school. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children outside the school-directed context described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify organizations as appropriate.
